Peeking behind the scenes

With 550 employees and 137 external employees who are connected to us, a lot is happening at Op Stoom. We would like to share that with you.

This year, our staff got to know 69 new colleagues. If you haven't met them yet in your child's group, you can already meet some of them here. We pay a lot of attention to finding (and retaining) good staff and we also train them ourselves. In the meantime, you can go to work every day with peace of mind because your child will have a great time with us and there is plenty to do. Your child will develop all kinds of skills through play. Wow, all those Op Stoom classes!

At the end of June, the graduation ceremony of the Op Stoom class 2024 took place. Look at them beaming! And that was not just because of the sun. They all have their diploma in their pockets and are ready for a permanent job at one of our locations.

The 7th (!!) Op Stoom class has also started. A beautiful, new group of 23 enthusiasts is immersed in the world of Op Stoom with a work and learning trajectory. And we are of course very proud of that – in these times of staff shortages.

Last but not least, the 2nd 'Ik Stoom Door' class is also a fact. A lot of arrangements, campaigning, application procedures, but with the result… a well-filled class with 22 top students from Syria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Brazil and other countries.

Op Stoom Festival #mayholiday

During the May holiday it was time for our own Op Stoom Festival. From trampolines to fancy dress parties, from cookie biting to dancing in the silent disco. And in between? Rehydrate with home-made fresh fruit smoothies.

On vacation? Don't forget us!

It would be great if you let us know via the Konnect OuderApp when your child is not there. That way we can plan everything properly and we don't have to puzzle as much to get the staffing right.

Men's evening at Op Stoom

Every year we organize a Men's evening. With about 130 men at Op Stoom it is good to share experiences, ask questions and help each other in working with children. That resulted in nice conversations, about how to comfort a child, how to show affection and how to wrestle safely and with confidence. It was an evening with a lot of fun, in which our men felt heard and supported.

Tomorrows' Boss

With JINC 'Tomorrows' Boss', students take important steps towards a successful start on the job market. Making contacts, gaining experience ánd the confidence to dream big… an initiative we are happy to participate in.

On June 3, Aria (13) and Eleana (14) – two students from Haarlem College – took over the management seats from Linda and Renate. They spent a day with us and gained a lot of wonderful insights. Because not everyone who works in childcare actually works with children. An inspiring and educational day, for everyone!

Grachtenloop 2025

How great to see our sporty colleagues in action during the Haarlemse Grachtenloop. With red cheeks, broad smiles and a good dose of perseverance, they 'flew' over the Haarlem bridges. And the next sporting highlight is already on the horizon: on Saturday September 20th, no fewer than 90 (!) colleagues will put on their walking shoes for the Pink Ribbon Dam tot Dam Walk.
