'25 = never boring!

Tightened rules around self-employed workers? We'll just work with it. Even healthier food? Quite a challenge but fun to be involved in. Shortage of staff? Then we will train ourselves. It's never boring in childcare!

Children often make us laugh and our staff also gives us a lot of fun at work. They are worth their weight in gold. If only we could duplicate them… we can hardly expand because new qualified staff is hard to find. But… also in 2025 we strive not to have to close a group, that worked out well in the first quarter. Our staff make sure that children really have a nice day and parents can go to work with peace of mind. #proud

Greetings from Linda and Renate
Directors Op Stoom

Have you seen our new workwear?

Our pedagogical staff shines in brand new Op Stoom sweaters. Clearly visible and recognizable! We think it is important that workwear feels good and fits who you are. The new collection is popular and some colleagues prefer to pimp their clothes themselves — this creates unique Op Stoom items that are worn with pride at work.

From vacancy to adventure

Since January, we no longer work with freelancers. That took some adjusting, but fortunately there are also freelancers who have made the switch to Op Stoom. We are building a stable team as much as possible, which is not easy in these times when staff is scarce.

We continue to recruit
Our second 'Ik Stoom door' campaign was launched in March. Recruiting people with roots from all over the world, who want to start a career in childcare and want to learn the Dutch language at a high speed.

Also exciting: the 7th edition of the Op Stoom class will start soon. These awesome students go to school one day a week and also work on the childcare groups. They roll up their sleeves and gradually learn all kinds of things from experienced colleagues.

More good news: the new collective labor agreement comes with two salary increases and an end-of-year bonus of 8%. That is a great reward for everyone who enthusiastically dedicates themselves to childcare every day!

On holiday? Don't forget us!

Is your child not coming to Op Stoom during the holidays? Let us know via the ParentApp of Konnect. This way we can plan everything well and we don't have to puzzle as much to get the staffing right.

Boxing at the BSO? Yes!

Our own adventurer Bradley – also a pedagogical employee at the BSO – not only lets the children play, but he also teaches them how to do boxing. How cool is that?

They went into the ring super fanatically (okay, the gymnasium 😉). Not only fun, but also very educational: boxing helps improve your focus, makes you more resilient and teaches you to recognize and indicate your own limits.

Bear is part of it

You may have heard of our 'bear'. Each group at the daycare and toddler care has its own bear. Bear is not just a cuddly toy. Bear poaks about a bit, helps clean up, offers comfort when you say goodbye and plays outside. And of course he experiences the things that your child also knows: not liking something, grandma coming to stay or getting new boots. Bear is always there for your child, and that makes everything even more enjoyable.

Healthy kids, happy days!

We have been a partner of childcare on St. Eustatius (Caribbean Netherlands) for  5 years now and we recently also built a robust collaboration with JOGG (foundation for young people at a healthy weight). In addition to pedagogical quality in childcare, we are committed to the health of all children on St. Eustatius. From jellies and juices to veggies and water… And lots of exercise of course! In January we were there with a group of three colleagues, and in March the manager of the largest daycare center came to Op Stoom for 2 weeks.
