In June we started the recruitment campaign ikstoomdoor.nl and the first class is now a fact.

A group of 17 people has been hired to work redundantly at the locations until they have obtained their diploma. They have now started with language and pedagogy education. A number of them already have a pedagogical diploma, so as soon as they also have a language diploma, they can be fully deployed in the group. See them shine in the photo. Alderman Bas van Leeuwen about his visit to the class: "I am touched by this program that contributes to solving the staff shortage and at the same time promotes integration and job satisfaction. It is great that we as the Municipality of Haarlem can support this with a subsidy for language development."

And another class
In addition to the Ik Stoom door class, we have another class with top students who are looking forward to a career in childcare. The students are lateral entrants who follow a BBL trajectory with us (vocational training), which means that they learn and work at the same time. We're also very happy with this club. This way we solve the staff shortage together, bit by bit.

Healthy habits that children develop at a young age lay a solid foundation for later. To contribute to this, we have reviewed our nutritional policy and implemented a number of changes. With the help of the Nutrition Centre and input from colleagues, we have decided to offer even healthier alternatives on various products. This means less added sugars, less processing and more nutritional value. Curious? Watch one of the introductory videos that we have made for our employees.

Fundraising for Stichting Jarige Job
Thanks to the efforts of the BSO children and locations during the autumn holidays – from spectacular performances (and then having fun with the collecting hat), to handing in deposit bottles and baking cookies and apple pies – the children have raised money for the Foundation 'Jarige Job' (Birthday Job), which offers birthday boxes for children who cannot celebrate their birthday due to financial reasons. No less than €1,394.10 was raised. Op Stoom supplements this amount with €1,000.

Op Stoom is closed between Christmas and New Year's (December 25 to January 1). We close at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve). This way our employees can also enjoy a relaxed and pleasant Christmas Eve.
